let's go to the cinema

Hi,
Is this sentence a suggestion?
"Should we go lớn the movies?"
Is it equal lớn "Let's go lớn the movies."
Thanks.

First of all i would lượt thích lớn correct ur word "movies". It should be "movie"
And now according lớn bủ,the correct sentence will be:
If you are asking for a movie,"Should we go for the movie?"
And the other sentence is, as if you are suggesting someone for the movie.

Sorry Maggi, I have lớn respectfully disagree with you.

"Should we go lớn the movies?" and "Let's go lớn the movies" are both extremely common. In these sentence "movies" is being used lớn mean "cinema": "Let's go lớn the cinema" or "Should we go lớn the cinema?"

If you are talking about a specific movie, "Should we go for the movie?" is also incorrect. You don't go for a movie, you go lớn see a movie. "Should we go to see the movie?"

Thankyou for correcting bủ,but as far as the term movies goes, we here never use s with the word movie,as in you cannot got for more than thở one movie.
May be i am wrong, I would lượt thích lớn get your comment on it.

Perhaps it's only in certain parts of the world, but I always ask my friends if they want lớn go lớn the movies, meaning the cinema. Here's a couple of examples I found on the internet:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0344086/
    www.ecunet.org/movies.html

I am interested lớn hear from other people though, lớn see what they think!

I know the word movie mean, cinema. But still somehow it is not digestable for bủ, generally S comes when there is more than thở one thing stands.I am too looking for some other person lớn comment on it.

Sorry, I think you may have misunderstood bủ.

"Movies" (with an s) means "cinema", or, it means more than thở one movie.
"Movie" means a single movie, regardless of where it is (either at the cinema or on the television).

"Movie" does not mean "cinema" without an s.

    Hi, maggi. I agree with nzseries1 :)

Go go see a movie = lớn see a film.
To go lớn the movies = lớn go lớn the cinema.

You can't say movie lớn mean cinema. You could say movie theater though. I have no idea why, but it's very common.

Here's an older thread on going lớn the movies.

Okeiii monster.I must say I get lớn learn a new word, what else. Actually here in India we just go for cinema and for us film and cinema both are the same. Anyways thankyou for answeting bủ patiently [:)]

No problem. We're all here lớn learn. :)

    Hello, Marysa.

No I'm afraid that doesn't work, either in BrE or (as far as I'm aware) in AmE:(.

No, I'm afraid it's not. As was explained above, "Let's go lớn the movie" means "Let's go lớn a specific movie," and it would be used when everybody knows what movie is being discussed. "Let's go lớn the movies" means "Let's go lớn the cinema" or "Let's go see a movie, but we aren't sure which one yet."

"Let's go movie" isn't ever used.

    And what about :
    Let's go lớn a movie.
    Is it correct too?
